Medical Research EXPO - Thursday 6^th June

If you've ever wanted to see the microscopic world of human cells, learn about the human genome project or check out the latest research from some of Australia's leading research institutes - now's the time at the 2002 Medical Research EXPO at the Powerhouse Museum, Ultimo on Thursday June 6,  2002.

The public will have the opportunity to visit a Medical Research EXPO with interactive, obtain free information on the latest in medical research as well as having the opportunity to speak with researchers from a wide range of fields.

Entry to the EXPO and the Powerhouse museum is FREE so take the time to come and visit us between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

For aspiring medical researchers, there is also a Careers Seminar for senior students in years 10 - 12.  Students can talk to researchers and find out about a career in medical research.  This seminar will be held in the Coles Lecture Theatre, Powerhouse Museum, commencing at 10:00 am. Entry is free but registration is strongly recommended.  Please complete the booking form and return it to Dr. Geraldine O'Neill (details on form).  At the same time enter the Career Quiz to win $100.

The Medical Research EXPO, is one of the many events during this year's ASMR Medical Research Week^Ò (1 -  8 June).  The Week celebrates the achievements of Australian medical researchers and highlights the importance of medical research for improving the health of the community.

"Australia is at the forefront of medical research in many fields including cancer detection, heart disease and AIDS.  It is the backbone of our health care system and this year's Medical Research EXPO will give the public the opportunity to check out some of the innovative work that is being done in NSW" said Dr Joe Simonetta, spokesperson for ASMR Medical Research Week^Ò in New South Wales.
