The specimen consists of the left foot and part of the leg. The first 4 toes and adjacent skin, covering approximately half of the front part of the foot, is dry, shrunken and blackened, with superficial necrosis (dead tissue) and peeling of the skin. A well-defined line of demarcation separates the black region from the viable skin (line of separation).
