A female aged 48 years was admitted to hospital for removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) because of heavy period bleeding for 3 months. Dilatation and curettage of the uterus (D and C) had been performed 2 months previously, when she was noted to have a large uterus with several fibroids. Total hysterectomy and removal of both ovaries and fallopian tubes were performed.
