Appearances of Disease:

A circumscribed chronic gastric ulcer is displayed in the pyloric channel. At the base of the ulcer is an eroded small artery, while the walls are fibrosed to give an overall "punched-out" appearance. The margins of the ulcer are level with the mucosa, while the mucosa itself exhibits folds centred on the crater in a "spoke-like" arrangement. Penetration of the ulcer backwards into the pancreas has resulted in its adherence to the stomach.
