MIRACLES AND MISADVENTURES IN MODERN MEDICINE

Assessment

Miracles Home Timetable

Based on tutorials and seminars on 10 topical aspects of the pros and cons of modern medicine, students will be asked to research an assignment topic in one area of interest, and to produce a report of their findings, either as a poster or a World-Wide Web site. The deadline for completion of the project is 5 pm Friday, 23rd August, 2002.

The criteria for successful completion of the assessment task will be:

  1. Evidence of appropriate use of reference sources from the medical literature and the lay press.
  2. Evidence of critical analysis of the effects of modern medical techniques, in terms of disease incidence, morbidity and mortality.
  3. Evidence of understanding of the scientific principles that underpin advances in medicine.
  4. Clearly set out, logical argument.
  5. Originality and attractiveness of presentation.
